The Lazy Days of Summer
Blog Hop
If you have just stopped by to visit with me, thank you and welcome, but please start at the beginning of the hop with our Hostess, Robin Lane from Create-A-Latte.
We would not want you to miss any of these wonderful projects.
As summer is starting to wind down and kids are getting ready to head back to school, we thought we would share some summer projects with you.
So, grab yourself a Latte', sit
back and hop along with us as we share our projects with
you.
Now, for some candy. This month we will be giving one lucky person one Becky Higgins Project Life Themed Kit, Summer.
For my Projects today:
I created a fun summer card and tag set. I wanted it to
look like a picnic spread out with the ant stealing the slice of watermelon and
the watermelon looking like an uh-oh face as it's carried off. I created this
set with my brand-new Cricut Explore Air that I won from Cricut Lover's Guide to
Design Space. It was donated from Cricut. I am so so happy and so very
thankful to have won this absolutely wonderful machine. Plus the luxury of
creating and cutting right from my iPad oh my goodness I'm in heaven. OK onto
my projects and the supplies I used.
The card base is a standard 5.5" x 4.25" which I added a yellow pattern paper to. The funky mat is from formal occasion cartridge - blue tag. I cut this in 2 layers, The back is just black card stock and the top layer being from a beautiful summer stack that my step daughter gave me as a gift years ago that I've been hoarding ha ha. It is a beautiful metallic foil paper that looks like a picnic tablecloth and ants crawling around on it. It is from momenta - called summer fun. The watermelon slices are from Cricut Simply Charmed ... love that cartridge and I added peachy keen faces to both. On the card I wanted an uh-oh face and I went with simple Sallies & on the tag I used one from basic paper dolls. I chalked the cheeks pink and dotted them with white gel pen and I also faux stitched around each of the watermelon slices with white gel pen. The ant is from Cricut Nate's ABC's cartridge which I also enhanced with white gel pen. For the ant's eye I added a clear gem that I colored with a blue sharpie marker before I adhered it on to him. The beautiful stitched grass is from Desert Craftin Diva's - Outdoor Landscape Die. I also used their stamp set Short & Sweet Tags to add the "Thanks" sentiment & flag stitching for the card and the "For you" sentiment on the tag. Tara provides the SVG cut outs for those stamps free. The seeds are an SVG file from could KaDoodle Bug designs named watermelon mouse. I also added white gel pen to the seeds for enhancement.
The tag base itself is from very
Merry tags cartridge. Summers the bounty stamp is from my stash maker unknown.
On the yellow edges of the card I stamped a border stamp from a card maker kit
and then added red sequence with a dab of red glitter glue inside each one. I
also added some green dew drops around the outside and a couple scattered on the
picnic blanket which look red because of the background.
I added one dew drop
to the tag as well. To finish off the tag I added some ribbon that I recently
won in a challenge from Karen over at little scrap pieces ... I love this
ribbon. I then added a red button from my stash tied on with some green and
white bakers twine that I picked up at dollar tree the other day.
